Marine Project Week in Croatia (6ABC, June 3 – 7, 2024)
All 53 students from 6ABC, along with their form tutors Ms Schörkhuber, Mr Klausberger, and Ms Rohrhofer as well as Mr. “Baywatch” Schmollmüller, spent five fun-filled days by the sea.
Our first stop was Postojna Cave in Slovenia, where we walked among stunning stalagmites and stalactites, crossed the Russian Bridge to the spaghetti ceiling, and saw the “human fish”.
On the Lanterna Peninsula, we enjoyed warm sea water, beautiful sunsets, guitar jam sessions, football, and beach runs. The teachers’ ukulele garbage song had an instant cleansing effect!
We learned about invasive species and snorkelled to spot sea walnuts, sea urchins, fish, and shells. The fish picnic tour took us to the picturesque towns of Vrsar and Rovinj, and we strolled through the lovely towns of Poreč and Pula. The Brijuni Islands National Park captivated us with its beauty. Finally, at the Višnjan Observatory, we gained some fascinating insights into the work of astrophysicists and engineers who detect potentially dangerous asteroids.
